Sunderland have continued to strengthen their ranks ahead of the coming season after confirming the signing of Jordan Willis.

The defender has left Coventry City and signed for the Black Cats on a two-year deal as he looks to help Jack Ross' men into the Championship following last season's play-off heartbreak.

Willis has been one of the standout performers for the Sky Blues in recent times, but has decided to leave the League One outfit behind and move to the Stadium of Light, a place where he will hope he can deliver his finest form and help the club back into the second tier.

The signing of Willis means it is now three summer signings for manager Jack Ross, who will be hoping to put behind him the end of last season, which saw the Black Cats lose out to Charlton Athletic in the play-off final at Wembley.

The signing of 24-year-old Willis was always going to be one which went down well with whatever club signed him, and that has proved to be the case with Sunderland their supporters today, with plenty of them taking to Twitter to voice their delight at the capture.
