In our latest FLW rewind, we take a look at how Sheffield Wednesday fans initially reacted when they secured the services of Barry Bannan from Palace back in 2015.
The Scottish midfielder was struggling for game-time at the south London club, and he was in desperate need of a new club to help ressurect his career.
The Owls came calling and he sealed a one-year deal with the Yorkshire outfit on the 31st August 2015, but how did the fans of the Sheffield club initially react?

As you can see, on the whole, these Sheffield Wednesday supporters were delighted to see the player arrive at Hillsborough, though who knows how the future would go for Bannan at the club.
After an underwhelming stint on loan at Bolton back in 2015, it was somewhat surprising to see the Owls faithful react in that way, as it appeared his career was dwindling.
Fast forward three years, Bannan is now arguably Sheffield Wednesday’s most influential player and is one of the key cogs in Jos Luhukay’s Owls side.
Bannan keeps Wednesday ticking, and you’d struggle to find a better passer of the ball in the whole of the English Football League.
Short-range, mid-range, and long-range passing, the 5ft 6 midfielder is expertly adept at all of these skills and very rarely misplaces a pass, he’s become a fundamental figure in the side.
The lack of negativity to the initial signing from Owls fans back in 2015 showcases the faith and belief the supporters had in the star, and he’s proved them right.
Ultimately, without Bannan in the side, Sheffield Wednesday just do not operate in the effective, efficient manner they can do.
