Derby County have announced that former Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett has been appointed as the club’s new manager on a two-and-a-half year deal.

Rowett replaces Steve McClaren at the Pride Park Stadium, just three-months after his surprise dismissal from Birmingham.

Birmingham chose to replace Rowett with Gianfranco Zola in December, despite the Blues sitting seventh in the Sky Bet Championship table, and only outside the Play-Off zone on goal-difference.

Since Zola’s appointment at St Andrew’s, Birmingham have recorded just two victories across all competitions, and their manager has recently admitted they are not yet safe from relegation.

Birmingham are currently 17th in the Championship table, and are now 18-points behind the top-six, but more worryingly, sit just six-points above the bottom-three with nine fixtures of the season remaining.

Seeing Rowett’s appointment at Derby, combined with their club’s poor form, has got under the skin of Birmingham fans, here is how they are reacting on Twitter…
