‘What a player, what a man’ – Leeds United fans respond to former midfielder’s message

Few players have passed through Leeds United’s academy and left the impression Lewis Cook did, with the 21-year-old midfielder seemingly destined for the top.
Cook came through Leeds’ ranks at a difficult time, with the young midfielder going on to make 85 appearances for Leeds before moving on and linking up with AFC Bournemouth in the summer of 2016.
Since departing Elland Road, Cook has continued to impress and is now a full England international, who is in contention to feature in the summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Recently, Cook has been rewarded for his fine rise through English football, with a place in the Club Developed XI at Sunday night’s EFL Awards.
Following his award, Cook moved to thank Leeds on Twitter, highlighting the fact that he couldn’t have progressed like he has without the club.
Massive honour to receive this award, a big thankyou also goes to @LUFC who helped me get this far ⚽️???? https://t.co/RauxWEzfEx

The ex-Elland Road favourite’s message has been well received by Leeds’ supporters, who still seem to hold a deep regret the midfielder is no longer around…
You'll be back at super Leeds when we get back to the top #MOT #LUFC
