‘What a performance’ – These Portsmouth fans react to player display in cup win

Portsmouth continued their defence of the trophy last night with a 2-1 win away at Walsall, which saw them progress to the quarter-final stage.

John Marquis slammed home from a corner after Christian Burgess had nodded a Gareth Evans delivery back across goal, before Ellis Harrison met an excellent cross from Steve Seddon late on to power in a header.

Walsall did pull one back through Caolan Lavery after Rory Holden had been fouled by Paul Downing inside the area, but the visitors held on for a crucial cup progression.

One standout performance in a Portsmouth shirt came from striker Oli Hawkins, who was making just his ninth appearance of the campaign.
