Just when it looks like Derby County may be turning a corner at certain points, something seems to strike them down and they have received numerous blows this week on the eve of their clash with Sheffield United.

Wayne Rooney's side are unbeaten in four Championship matches and with the ex-Manchester United icon revealing yesterday that he expected a preferred bidder for a takeover of the club to be named imminently, the mood of County fans lifted.

How things can change in a matter of hours though as it came to light that the EFL had made demands from administrators Quantuma, requiring proof of funds in the event that they are in charge at Pride Park until the end of the season.

Until that can be done then the Rams are blocked from making any new signings and signing players to new contracts, and that means that Phil Jagielka's time at the club has come to an end - for now at the very least.

The 39-year-old signed over the summer and despite his age he has been a rock at the back for Derby alongside Curtis Davies, but with his contract set to expire on Monday and the club not able to renew it for now, the former England international has departed and is free to sign with another team.

County fans are understandably disappointed and are feeling aggrieved - let's see what they are saying on social media.
