Cardiff City have confirmed that they have been under a transfer embargo by the EFL, although they insist it will be lifted by the time the window opens.
A report from the Daily Mail claimed to highlight the financial problems that are engulfing clubs in the Championship because of the pandemic, with the Bluebirds named as one of ten clubs placed under an embargo in the last month.
That prompted an update from Cardiff, who explained the situation to fans with a statement on their official site.
The Welsh side state that they knew the embargo was coming after they chose to delay submitting their company accounts, as they are allowed to do.
Do Cardiff City and Swansea City have these 10 things in common?
More importantly, they confirm those accounts will be submitted by the end of the month, at which point the embargo will be lifted.
So, that was reassuring news for most Cardiff fans, but some are annoyed that the club have put themselves in this position when they are making headlines for the wrong reasons again.
Here we look at some of the reaction from Twitter…
What’s the point in placing us on a month transfer ban if the window is closed anyway something doesn’t sound right here

If anyone actually read what the club said it’s so they had a extra 3 months to publish the accounts it doesn’t impact the summer

Thank god its not too bad! We’d be screwed if it was a proper transfer ban

Oh dear, we can't sign anyone this month whilst there isn't a transfer window, furious isn't the word! https://t.co/HASNT4M9ca
