A horrific video emerged on social media on Tuesday evening showing a Syrian refugee being brutally attacked by a fellow student at a school in Huddersfield.

The video has since gone viral, with many people horrified and angered by what they had witnessed happen on school grounds.

Many high-profile figures have offered their support to the Syrian child, including Leeds' Pontus Jansson, who posted the following message to the victim on his Twitter page:

"Little man, whatever I can do for you, I would do it. People like you are inspiration for so many to fight for justice! Be strong my warrior!"

The attacker has since been charged by the police with assault and is awaiting trial.

Jansson is a crucial member of the Leeds side who are gunning for promotion this season, and he will be hoping he can return from injury to play a significant part in the rest of their campaign.
