Portsmouth got back to winning ways on Saturday with midfielder and fan-favourite Gareth Evans getting on the score-sheet. 

Pompey took the lead on the 24th minute when returning left-back Dion Donohue, making his first appearance of the season, whipped in a cross for Tom Naylor to head home via a deflection to give Kenny Jackett's side the lead.

It was two just seven minutes later. Jamal Lowe did well in the build-up and fed Lee Brown whose low cross trickled right across the face of goal.

Arriving at the back post, however, was Evans who finished emphatically to put the league leaders in firm control.

The Wombles pulled one back just after the hour as James Hanson capitalised on an Evans mistake, curling the ball home brilliantly to reduce the arrears.

But it was Evans' goal that had the fans talking the most at the time, even if some of their comments never came to fruition.
