The Sun (via The Daily Express) have linked Aston Villa with Southampton's Sam Gallagher.

The striker is currently on loan at Championship side Blackburn Rovers and has been impressive in his tenure at Ewood Park.

Gallagher has scored 11 goals in 39 games for Blackburn as they have struggled in 2016/17, however they have had an uplift in form since the appointment of Tony Mowbray.

The 21-year-old had a loan spell with MK Dons last year but failed to score 13 league games.

Gallagher also has 18 Premier League appearances to his name, scoring one goal in that time, in a 4-2 win over Norwich in 2014.

Sam Gallagher is a product of the Southampton youth academy, an academy that's produced England internationals such as Luke Shaw, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale was also a graduate of the Saints academy.

It's rumoured that Aston Villa are ready to pay £3m for the youngster's services, and here's what Villa fans had to say about it on Twitter....
