It is shaping up to be a difficult season for Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship, with it looking increasingly likely that the Blues will be fighting relegation once again in April and May.

Following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers, Birmingham fell to the foot of the Championship table, with Steve Cotterill’s side now facing a huge festive period, where the club’s aim is to avoid getting cut adrift heading into the January transfer window.

The transfer window will be key for Birmingham, and the Blues have already set about making room in their squad for additions, with David Cotterill’s departure confirmed by the club’s official website this morning.

Cotterill, leaves Birmingham having had his contract cancelled six months early, leaving the midfielder free to join another club ahead of January.

The 30-year-old made over 100 appearances for the Blues between 2014 and the end of 2017.
