‘What a hero’ – Many Coventry City fans react to player departure

Coventry City have announced the departure of experienced goalkeeper Lee Camp.

Camp joined the Sky Blues on a short-term deal back in November following his release from Birmingham City at the end of last season.

However, the 36-year-old, who was signed to cover for the injured Marko Marosi, has left the club just more than two months after his arrival.

Camp has made almost 600 appearances in English football for the likes of Queens Park Rangers, Nottingham Forest, West Brom and Rotherham United, but didn’t manage a single first-team outing for Coventry.

Quiz: Did each of these 18 ex-Coventry City players ever score a goal at the Ricoh Arena?

Following Marosi’s spell on the sidelines, Ben Wilson became Coventry’s first-choice goalkeeper – with Camp coming in as cover.

But Marosi returning to the bench for the Sky Blues’ 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday last night, which meant that Camp is now surplus to requirements.

Here’s how the Coventry faithful reacted on Twitter to Camp’s departure:
