Derby County has issued their statement detailing the punishment they intend to hand out to Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett.

The pair were part of a trio of players involved in a drink driving incident a few weeks back, a move which has been widely criticised in the footballing world. The incident has had big ramifications for defender Keogh, who has seen a knee injury rule him out for around 18 months.

However, Lawrence and Bennett were back in action just this week as manager Phillip Cocu opted to thrust them back into action.

Both players though, as per the statement, will now be fined six weeks' wages and also forced to do 80 hours of community work, while also doing some work around drink awareness.

While the punishment might seem fitting for the club, the footballing world has not responded too kindly to the decision taken from the Rams, with many other clubs' fans calling out Derby on Twitter for what they see as a lax approach to the situation.
