Luton Town have recently confirmed the signing of goalkeeper, Simon Sluga on a three-year-deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.34m.

The deal has broken the club's record transfer fee, and they'll be hoping that the shot-stopper can settle into life in English football as soon as possible.

Luton are preparing for their first season back in the Championship after winning promotion from League One last term.

Sluga is capped at international level for Croatia, and won the Croatian league title with Rijeka back in the 2016/2017 season, so there are high hopes from supporters after his arrival.

Luton boss, Graeme Jones was pleased to land his signature, and he'll be keen to get off to a winning start in the Championship, when they take on Middlesbrough.

"He's an excellent footballer - an 11th player for us - and he has a fantastic presence and great reflexes."

But is Sluga a good signing for the Hatters ahead of the new season?

We discuss....

George Brooks:

"This could be a great signing for Luton Town.

"Luton will be hoping to survive in the Championship next season after back-to-back promotions, so having a good goalkeeper is absolutely crucial.

"Sluga has got an impressive amount of experience and is now a full international with Croatia having made his debut last month.

"The goalkeeper will be a commanding presence on the pitch but has also got great agility and reflexes.

"He could turn out to be a fantastic addition for Luton and will be confident that he can make a big impact at Kenilworth Road next season."

Toby Wilding:

"This looks to be a decent piece of business from Luton.

"Sluga is clearly a reliable goalkeeper, as shown by his involvement with a national side who little over a year ago playing in a World Cup final.

"The recruitment of Sluga will therefore only serve to strengthen the Hatters’ goalkeeping department, which could have a big role to play next season as the Hatters face the difficult task of consolidating their place in the Championship.

"That Luton broken their club-record transfer fee to sign Sluga is a big sign of their intent for next season, and will only serve to provide encouragement to the club’s fans that they are serious about competing at Championship level in the coming campaign."

Jacob Potter:

"What a coup this is for the Hatters!

"Sluga has played for Croatia on the international stage, which shows that he's a highly-rated goalkeeper, so it's a fantastic bit of business by Luton to land his signature ahead of their return to the Championship.

"The goalkeeping position was an area that needed to be strengthened at the earliest of opportunities next season, and it's good to see Graeme Jones acknowledging that during pre-season.

"I still think they need additional options in defence though, otherwise I could see them struggling to stay afloat for the majority of next year's campaign."
