Plymouth Argyle have completed the signing of Danny Mayor on a free transfer after the midfielder left Bury.

The 28-year-old was outstanding for the Shakers last season, starring as they won promotion to League One by scoring 12 goals and providing the same number of assists, and he was named in the Team of the Year as a result.

And, despite apparent interest from sides higher up the league, including Ipswich, the Pilgrims confirmed on their official site that the playmaker has decided to link up with former Bury boss Ryan Lowe at Home Park.

Argyle were relegated to League Two last season after an awful end to the season but there is real optimism around the club now following the appointment of Lowe and the new approach he is encouraging.

And, it's fair to say the support see this signing as a real statement of intent from the club as they look to bounce back immediately.
