“What a club” – Louie Sibley reacts as Derby County supporters show their support

Despite putting up a good fight all season, Derby County had their relegation to League One confirmed yesterday afternoon.

The Rams travelled to QPR and suffered a 1-0 defeat, conceding in the 88th minute and losing their captain Tom Lawrence to a second yellow card in the 98th minute.

The final result was a sucker punch for Derby County and it sees their relegation confirmed.

After starting the season with a -21 points deduction, Derby have done remarkably well to reach 31 points so far this season.

Despite the difficulties off the pitch, the players and staff at Derby have been credited for the way they have stuck by the club and worked hard until the very end.

As a result, a number of fans turned out at the ground last night to welcome back the players on the coach applauding them as they drove through.

20-year-old Louie Sibley, who has had a brilliant season stepping up for Derby, took to Twitter to show the appreciation back as he put the caption: “What a club, the best supporters” alongside a video of the coach being welcomed.

Derby are yet to find out what things will look like for them next season. As it stands, most of the players are out of contract. However with a takeover looking like it could happen, that could change everything and allow Derby to keep hold of some players to help bring them up next season.

Sibley’s contract expires in 2024 but his status at the club will be down to whether a take over can go through for the Rams.

However, there is no doubt that the players and fans will continue to support one another until the end of the season.

The Verdict:

Since first stepping up for Derby, Sibley has done well and at the age of 21-years-old to be so liked at the club speaks a lot for the type of player he is and shows the appreciation he gets from the fans.

He and the rest of the squad will be gutted to have had relegation confirmed but they have put up an impressive fight this season which is why many fans wanted to come and show their appreciation for their team last night.

With the future of Derby County still unsure, everyone associated with the club will be hoping a takeover can be completed soon giving them enough time to prepare for next season to put them in a position to be able to compete.
