Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly likely to keep hold of both Keiren Westwood and Liam Palmer according to The Sun (2nd June, page 59).

Their futures at Hillsborough had been somewhat ‘up in the air’, with their current deals set to expire in the summer.

Westwood has been in impressive form since coming back into the side under Steve Bruce, and will be hoping to kick on into next year’s campaign.

But he has previously been attracting interest from recently-relegated, Huddersfield Town ahead of a potential summer move according to The Sun (14th April, page 61).

But this latest update from The Sun, seems to suggest that his future at Sheffield Wednesday will be resolved in the near future.

Palmer has also been a regular for the Owls, and it seems as though they’ve been pleased with the progress he’s made in recent months.

How big of a boost is this latest update for Sheffield Wednesday though?

We discuss….

Gary Hutchinson:

"It’s certainly a good step.

"Westwood is an experienced shot-stopper who they missed during the early part of last season.

"Palmer came into his own as the campaign wore on and he is a good player to have in the squad.

"There’s going to be a lot of hope around Hillsborough this season, all the moves seem to be suggesting they’re on the right track."

George Brooks:

"This is good news for Sheffield Wednesday fans.

"Both Westwood and Palmer were key players for the Owls last season and could have an important role to play next season.

"Westwood is an excellent goalkeeper, one of the best in the Championship, so it will be a major boost for Sheffield Wednesday if they can keep hold of him."

Jacob Potter:

"What a boost this is.

"Westwood in particular has really impressed me since coming back into the side, and I’m surprised that the Owls have been able to persuade him to stay.

"If they can make the right additions to their squad over the summer on top of keeping hold of their key players, then Steve Bruce’s side will certainly fancy their chances of a top six finish."
