West Brom manager Darren Moore's promotion plans have been dealt a blow, after 28-year-old centre-back Ahmed Hegazi suffered a muscular injury in their 1-0 loss to Sheffield United at the weekend, as reported in the Birmingham Mail.

Hegazi, who was making his 29th league appearance of the season, was forced off with a muscle injury in the second half and was replaced by Manchester City loanee Tosin Adarabioyo in the 63rd minute.

His injury compounded his team's woes as they failed to pick up maximum points at the Hawthorns on Saturday, a disappointing home run that leaves them without a win since their 2-0 defeat of Wigan on Boxing Day.

So with Hegazi unlikely to be available for Leeds away on Friday night, how big a blow is that for the Baggies?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"What a blow this could be.

"West Brom need their key players available to them each week, and Hegazi definitely falls into that category.

"With some crucial games coming up, the Baggies will have to make do with the alternatives they have.

"His absence will leave a notable void in the West Brom defence."

Alfie Burns

“Hegazi has probably been West Brom’s best defender this season, so Moore won’t want to be without him for too long.

“It’s obviously a worry and West Brom will fear that automatic promotion might slip away without him.

“Someone is going to have to step up if it is an extended absence.”

Gary Hutchinson

“Not entirely.

“Hegazi is a great player, but Bartley and Dawson can cover.

“West Brom have a good squad, one injury won’t derail their season.”

Jay Taylor

“To some degree, it is a worry – but they have depth which will serve them well.

“Hegazi has been a monumental mainstay in the West Brom side, and his loss will certainly be felt.

“Tosin Adarabioyo and Kyle Bartley are more than capable of filling the void left by the defender.”
