‘What a blow it would be for Leeds though’ – Should Newcastle join Leeds transfer hunt? The verdict

With Leeds United sitting on top of the table with over a third of the Championship season gone, the spotlight is well and truly on Marcelo Bielsa’s men and the risk of Premier League sides coming in for their players has never been greater.

One of the stars of the Leeds show has to be striker Kemar Roofe, who will have been drawing admiring glances following a return of seven goals in 10 appearances for the Whites.

For struggling Premier League teams like Newcastle, Roofe could be seen as just the player to save their season should they make a move for the 25-year-old in January.

But should Roofe be a target for Newcastle?

We discuss…..

Gary Hutchinson

The question is; should Roofe be bothered if they do?

Newcastle isn’t a stable environment and when you’re less stable than Leeds, you’re in trouble.

Yes, Newcastle should be looking but Roofe should steer well clear.

Right now, he’d be better at Brighton, Burnley or Watford.

George Harbey

I don’t see why they shouldn’t make a move for Roofe.

Benitez’ men are desperate for goals so why shouldn’t they sign a young hungry player like Roofe?

What a blow it would be for Leeds though.

Jay Taylor

Newcastle needs goals and Kemar Roofe scores them – it would be a no-brainer.

Even if the Magpies went down, Roofe would surely bang them in once more in the Championship next year.

But I don’t think Newcastle will as they don’t want to spend any money due to their owner situation – so there could be all the interest in the world but I personally can’t see it happening.
