Leeds United’s attention is firmly on the summer transfer window, with Paul Heckingbottom looking to put a disappointing 2017/18 campaign behind the Whites.

Heckingbottom led the Whites to 13th in the Championship last season, with the playing squad at Elland Road needing some tweaking ahead of next season’s planned promotion push.

Kyle Bartley has emerged as one of Leeds’ top summer targets, with a return to Elland Road looking a strong possibility in the coming weeks.

The 26-year-old centre-back spent the 2016/17 campaign on-loan at Elland Road, impressing at the heart of defence alongside Pontus Jansson, as Leeds challenged for promotion.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, £3.15m-rated Bartley is keen on a return to Elland Road.

With that in mind, we take a look at THREE things the defender will bring to Leeds, should he re-sign for the Whites on a permanent basis…

Without Bartley last season, Leeds lacked leaders, there is no doubt about that.

During his previous spell with Leeds, Bartley wore the captain’s armband regularly and was a leader both on and off the pitch.

Adding that back to the squad at Elland Road can only be a positive.

During his spell on-loan at Elland Road, Bartley scored six goals for the Whites.

The towering defender was a constant threat from set-pieces, with Bartley contributing some key goals.

That could be invaluable next season.

Bartley will cost Leeds, but he is a quality player, who will improve the squad at Elland Road.

There is little doubt surrounding Bartley’s ability, particularly in the Championship.

His quality would shine through alongside Jansson at centre-back.
