As the 2015/16 season got underway, there were a few eyes drawn to West Bromwich Albion as potential candidates for relegation.

Over the past couple of campaigns, they had survived comfortably but were always towards the bottom of the league.

Scoring goals regularly had been a problem for the Baggies for a while, but it is one that they appeared to have solved on August 10, 2015, when they announced the signing of Salomon Rondon from Zenit St. Petersburg for just over £15million.

This is FLW Rewind, where we take a look back at an iconic moment for a Football League club, analyse the initial reaction and track how things panned out.

The Venezuelan international arrived at the Hawthorns having scored 13 goals in 26 appearances in his previous season.

To the fans, he looked like the perfect signing. A focal point for their attacks who will regularly score 15-20 goals a season and push them further up the table...

His first campaign was not quite the goal fest that many fans had hoped for, although it certainly was not a disaster either as Rondon scored nine goals 34 appearances.

It often takes players a while to adapt to English football so, if anything, this was a promising start.

The following season saw no improvement, however, as he scored just eight goals throughout the entire campaign with three of them coming in one match against Swansea City.

Faith in the big striker was beginning to dwindle and the 2017/18 season showed why as again his record worsened, hitting the back of the net just seven times as the Baggies were relegated from the Premier League.

This summer saw the 29-year-old make the loan switch to Newcastle United, bringing to an end what was ultimately a very underwhelming spell with West Brom.
