Noel Whelan's comments regarding Jack Clarke's role at Leeds United has certainly got supporters talking.

The 18-year-0ld was sold to Tottenham Hotspur over the summer before being immediately loaned back to Elland Road in an attempt to secure regular first team football.

Unfortunately things haven't quite gone to plan for Clarke, with the winger failing to make a single appearance in the Championship so far this season.

Whelan spoke to Football Insider where he said that the youngster's lack of versatility was responsible for him not being able to break into Marcelo Bielsa's plans.

Bielsa boasts one of the strongest squads in the Championship, and with Leeds sitting level on points with second place at present it’s no surprise that the head coach has refused to shuffle his pack too much.

Football League World shared Noel Whelan's comments in a Leeds United supporters' group on Facebook which prompted a number of fans to have their say on the 18-year-old's form.

Here's how some of the Leeds United supporters responded to Noel Whelan's comments about Jack Clarke.

Tom Sawford: “Probably because he’s not as good as what the fans think he is. One dimensional, easy to figure out, not that quick, can’t last 90 minutes. Personally, I think we’ve had Spurs’ pants down.”

Harvey Dale: “English, young and a Leeds player – that’s £10million right there.”

Keith Brown: “The simple fact is he is either under performing at present or over performed briefly last season.”Oliver Wright: “He’s just a bit too inconsistent at the moment. He has moments where he’s world class, and wouldn’t be out of place in the best football teams in the world, but he doesn’t show that every game. There’s no doubt he’s going to be exceptional player one day, but he still had a bit to learn yet.”

Andrew Firth: “Just not good enough really. Simples.”

George Ragan: “He’s still only a kid, give him time. Not many 18 year olds out there playing top flight football. He can only get better.”
