Sheffield United took another step to confirming promotion to the Championship with three points over bottom-of-the-table Coventry City on Wednesday evening.

The Blades could have been assured of their place in the second-tier if Fleetwood Town failed to beat Oxford United, but the Cod Army went away with a comfortable win in that game.

Having originally been delayed by 15 minutes due to crowd trouble, the hosts got their first goal through striker Leon Clarke which was provided by John Fleck.

The midfielder then doubled Sheffield United's lead moments later after finding himself with the time and space to place the ball into the bottom corner, ensuring the three points would stay at Bramall Lane.

With five League One matches remaining for Chris Wilder's side, they sit on 85 points at the top of the division.

Victory at the weekend would definitely confirm their place in the Championship for next season.
