Chelsea defender Fikayo Timori will reportedly not be returning to Derby County on loan this season, leaving many Rams fans disappointed.

The 21-year-old impressed on loan at Pride Park last season and was an integral part of the side, making 55 appearances, including playing every minute of their play-off run.

The centre-back, who won the Player of the Season award, had suggested earlier in the summer that he would consider another season with the Rams but it appears that is out of the question.

According to the Evening Standard, the Blues are keen to send Tomori out on loan again this season but Derby is not an option that they would consider.

The report suggests that the decision over the defender's future is related to Kurt Zouma's confirmation that he is happy to stay at Stamford Bridge this season.

There is understood to be interest from teams in the Premier League and Bundesliga, as well as the Portuguese top flight.

With Frank Lampard leaving Derby to take the Chelsea job earlier in the summer, the club may have felt they would get preferential treatment in the loan market from the Blues but so far that does not seem to have been the case.

Tomori was a popular figure for the Rams last season and it appears the news that he will not be returning for the upcoming campaign has been a disappointing blow for many fans, with some feeling their former boss has let them down.
