Charlton Athletic have enjoyed a fine start to the 2017/18 campaign, with Karl Robinson’s side showing signs that they could be ready to challenge for promotion in Sky Bet League One.

The Addicks have picked up five victories from their opening seven league fixtures, and currently sit third in the League One table.

After losing to Plymouth Argyle on the second weekend of the season, Robinson’s side went on an excellent run, winning four consecutive fixtures to move into the play-off zone.

However, a 3-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic last night has soured the mood at The Valley, with Charlton’s supporters left shocked as their winning streak was ended.

Robinson admitted after the game that his side had been second best, but was confident that defeat to Wigan would not define Charlton at such an early stage of the season.
