Coventry City have snapped up their third signing of the summer transfer window after they confirmed the arrival of Junior Brown on a free transfer.
The impressive left-back, who can also play as a central midfielder, joins the Sky Blues on a two-year deal after turning down a new contract at Shrewsbury Town.
The 29-year-old played over 100 games for Salop, although his appearances were restricted last year because of injury.
In his career, Brown has also represented Crewe Alexandra, Fleetwood Town, Oxford United and Mansfield Town.
He becomes Coventry’s third summer signing after the arrivals of Brentford midfielder Zain Westbrooke and Dulwich Hamlet winger Reise Allassani.
Many fans took to Twitter to welcome Brown to the Ricoh Arena but also to speculate about the futures of current players in that position.
With three decent left-backs in Chris Stokes, Ryan Haynes and Chris Camwell, it is likely that Coventry will offload at least one of these or turn Haynes into a winger and loan out Camwell.
Here are how Coventry fans reacted to Brown’s arrival at the club ahead of their League One campaign.
Left back who played 15 times for Shrewsbury last season, I believe. Looks like usurping Chris Stokes and Ryan Haynes ??

Does make you wonder what the future holds for Ryan Haynes. My hope is that we spend all summer turning him into a left winger. I fear it might not be so positive…

Welcome to Coventry City Junior Brown. We needed a new left back and we’ve got one of the best in League One. Likely the means the end for either Haynes or Stokes, but it shows we plan to build on our success #pusb #SkyBlues

Best signing of the season I’ll say now

Quite well thought of at Shrewsbury by the sounds of things. Left back a position I felt we need to strengthen too! Potential to be a good signing that.

Bit of a puzzling one this. Left back isn't exactly a position that I would think we need to strengthen. Chris Stokes is more than capable and Ryan Haynes can play there.
