Stevenage manager Graham Westley has expressed his delight after defender Jon Ashton and goalkeeper Chris Day signed new contracts.
Nine players have left the club but experienced duo Day and Ashton will remain for another season and will be crucial in Stevenage’s bid to bounce straight back to League One.
“Neither player had a good 2013/14 but both have been great servants to Stevenage and are determined to respond to that,” Westley told for the official Boro website.
“I spoke to them about my feeling that they are capable of playing good squad roles going forward, yet they feel capable of more than that. If that’s turns out to be true then I will be delighted.
“Having these two great professionals on board can only be a win-win situation for the Club as we look to regroup ahead of the new season.”
