West Ham’s transfer stance on key Hull City figure is clarified as summer window looms

West Ham United are still looking to make a move for Hull City winger Keane Lewis-Potter this summer, according to 90min.

The Hatters have recently been heavily linked with the England Under-21 international and it is understood that they are still keeping tabs on him ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Hull owner Acun Ilicali admitted in May that he is reluctant to sell Lewis-Potter and would not hesitate to reject a £30m offer for the winger if a potential suitor opts to test the club’s resolve.

As well as being on West Ham’s radar, Lewis-Potter is also attracting interest from the likes of Southampton, Brentford and AFC Bournemouth.

A stand-out performer for Hull last season, the 21-year-old illustrated that he is more than capable of setting the second-tier alight with his attacking displays.

As well as scoring 12 goals at this level, Lewis-Potter also provided his team-mates with four assists in 45 league appearances.

Having secured a 19th place finish in the Championship last month, Hull will be determined to reach new heights later this year under the guidance of manager Shota Arveladze.

As for West Ham, they will be hoping to continue to progress as a club after reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League during the previous term.

The Verdict

With Lewis-Potter still believed to be a target for West Ham, it will be interesting to see whether the Premier League side decide to step up their pursuit in the coming weeks.

For Hull’s sake, they will be hoping that the winger opts to turn down the chance to move to a team in the top-flight this summer as he has emerged as a key figure at the MKM Stadium in recent seasons.

By building a team around Lewis-Potter in the upcoming window, Hull could go on to achieve a relative amount of success in the second-tier next season.

However, in order to cover the possibility of Lewis-Potter moving on to pastures new, the Tigers may find it beneficial to draft up a list of replacements for the winger.
