West Ham United reportedly remain interested in signing striker Josh King despite Bournemouth rejecting their £13 million offer for him last weekend.

The Hammers are understood to have had tabled an offer for the Norway international over the weekend but saw it rejected as it was £5 million short of their £18 million valuation.

That doesn't seem to have put off West Ham as, according to Sky Sports, they remain keen on signing the striker before the deadline for domestic transfers at 5pm on Friday.

After Bournemouth were relegated from the Premier League last term, King has been linked with a string of top-flight clubs this summer, including Aston Villa and the Hammers.

Recent reports have revealed that the Birmingham club are set to launch a concrete move for the 28-year-old before Friday's deadline.

The Bournemouth forward is proven in the English top tier, having scored just shy of 50 goals in his five seasons in the top flight.

It seems that the Hammers could be set for an EFL double-swoop as it is understood that the east London club are closing in on the signing of Brentford's Said Benrahma.

Do Millwall and West Ham have these 10 things in common?

The Verdict

Signing King seems like a sensible move for the Hammers.

The Norway international is a proven player at Premier League level and would be a great option for David Moyes to be able to call on.

Bournemouth will likely want to cut their wage bill before the domestic window closes, so it will be interesting if they lower their valuation over the next few days.
