Sheffield United have no interest in selling John Fleck, despite interest from Premier League side West Ham United.

Sky Sports confirmed earlier today that the former Coventry City man was a £4m target for the Hammers before the deadline on Thursday.

And, the Sheffield Star have revealed that a bid has been received by the Blades for the 27-year-old but it will be rejected as they have no intention of losing the influential midfielder.

Fleck has been a key player at Bramall Lane since arriving and has starred for Chris Wilder's side as they won promotion to the second-tier.

He has continued to flourish in the Championship and remains a crucial figure in the side that are currently third in the table and in the hunt for automatic promotion.

Such form also saw him earn a call-up to the Scotland squad recently.

Therefore, it seems highly unlikely that they will entertain any further approaches for the player who signed a four-year extension at Bramall Lane back in September 2017.

The Blades will expect Fleck to be involved this weekend as they host struggling Bolton.

The Verdict

It would be crazy for Sheffield United to sell Fleck at this stage of the season, particularly for the low fee mentioned.

They are in a fantastic position and automatic promotion is a real possibility, so losing any key players shouldn't be up for debate.

So fans will be pleased by the strong response to the bid from the club and they will need to resist any further offers that may arrive.
