West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign Brentford winger Said Benrahma, according to Sky Sports.

The Algerian playmaker has had a sensational couple of seasons with the Bees and has become arguably one of the best players in the Championship on a regular basis.

The Hammers are in advanced talks with the player, and it appears as though he could be set for a move from the west of London to the east.

Benrahma would follow Ollie Watkins out the door if he is to leave, with the striker having joined Aston Villa on a deal worth up to £28 million.

West Ham do have a history of buying from the Championship, and one player who has shone since joining is Jarrod Bowen, meaning it's no surprise that David Moyes' side are yet again looking to delve into the second tier of English football.

The Verdict

It would be a brilliant signing for West Ham if they manage to pull off a move for winger Said Benrahma and he'd be a good replacement for Felipe Anderson who has just gone out on loan to Porto.

The winger has all the attributes to be a top top player, and it will be interesting to see how he gets on at a higher level and whether he can prove himself on a global scale.

It would leave Brentford with a big void though, and they may look to spend the money as soon as possible with the transfer window closing in under a week.
