According to the Mirror, West Ham are looking into signing Salomon Rondon as the race for the powerful striker intensifies.

The West Brom man can be a real battering ram on his day and can knock defenders about for fun but he did not have enough days to save the Baggies from the drop last season.

With that said, then, he'd have to quickly prove that he can still be consistent in the Premier League if he joined the Hammers for a reported £16m.

As we said, though, there is a race on for the striker with Cardiff City also linked with an interest not too long ago as they aim to ready their squad for their return to the Premier League.

The Bluebirds and Neil Warnock adopted a powerful approach to their games in the Championship and, with that yielding such good results, you can see that they're only looking to enhance things.

The Verdict

The Bluebirds and the Hammers both like having a strong front-man up top and so this should be a hard-fought contest between the two for Rondon.

He is good enough for the Premier League despite the season just gone and if one of the sides can get his maximum out they'll have a real player on their hands.
