Brentford forward Said Benrahma is still locked in talks with West Ham United over a potential move into the Premier League.

It was reported last night that the Hammers were shelving their plans to sign the Algerian, but that doesn’t appear to be the case fully.

As per Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre (12/10, 18:40), they remain in talks with Brentford over Benrahma. A £30m deal has been agreed in principle, with personal terms still to be agreed if a deal is to move forwards.

The 25-year-old has been a revelation for Brentford over the course of the last couple of Championship seasons and was the main reason why Thomas Frank’s side were in contention for promotion last season.

Benrahma bagged 17 goals and registered nine assists in the Championship last season, spearheading the Bees’ push for promotion alongside Ollie Watkins.

Frank’s side eventually settled for a place in the play-offs, but Benrahma was unable to inspire the Bees to a Wembley win. Fulham beat them 2-1 in a cagey play-off final.

It’s been an indifferent start to this season for Benrahma due to doubt surrounding his future and injuries. However, he bagged a brace for the Bees in their League Cup win over Fulham recently.

The Verdict

The saga involving Benrahma looks set to stretch right through until deadline-day on Friday.

West Ham might have other pressing transfers to deal with, but you feel that they will still want Benrahma given a deal is there to do.

He’s a player that looks good enough for the Premier League and should really make the transition into the top-flight with ease.

Expect plenty of twists and turns this week.
