Premier League side West Ham United are readying an offer to sign Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen ahead of the summer, according to reports from Football Insider.

The Welshman has been a regular for Stoke following their relegation from the Premier League last season, playing an integral role in the heart of their midfield.

The 28-year old has scored six goals and produced four assists for the Potters this season, and is currently attracting the interest from the likes of West Ham and Watford ahead of the summer window.

But despite his contract at the bet365 Stadium not running out until 2022, Allen could well be on his way out of the club this summer, with reports claiming that West Ham are lining up a move to sign the international midfielder.

Allen has been a target for the Hammers before - the London club submitted a bid of £25million for the Wales international last season, but he decided to stay in Staffordshire instead.

Stoke currently occupy 16th spot in the Sky Bet Championship table with just two games left to play this term, as Nathan Jones looks to rebuild his squad in the summer.

The Verdict

I think it would be a major blow for Stoke to lose Allen, and the club need to ensure that they receive a lot of money for him so that they can replace him.

He hasn't been at his best this term, and has flattered to deceive at times, but on his day, he has the ability to be one of the best players in the division.

Would West Ham be a good move for him? The competition for places is very high at the London Stadium, so he would have to work very hard indeed.
