West Ham United midfielder Marcus Browne is talking to Oxford United ahead of a possible loan switch, according to Football Insider.

Browne could be sent out on loan for the upcoming campaign with new West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini currently running the rule over his current options.

The Hammers signed Andriy Yarmolenko from Borussia Dortmund today, potentially forcing Browne further down the pecking order.

The academy product is highly rated by the club and he previously had a loan spell at Wigan Athletic, playing just once.

The 20-year-old has also made his West Ham debut in a Europa League clash and he featured in their pre-season friendly against Winterthur.

Predominantly a central attacking midfielder, Browne can also play deeper in the midfield, on the wing or up front.

The youngster returned from injury last season to score four goals in one match for the academy team against Everton and he is impressing scouts from Football League clubs.

A number of sides have taken an interest in Browne this summer after being alerted to the possibility of his loan availability, but Oxford United have opened talks in the hope that they can win the race for his signature.

The Verdict

This would be a major coup for Oxford United.

Browne has so much flair and West Ham fans want to see more of him in the first-team so for a League One club to capture him would be impressive business.

With Luke Garbutt signed on loan alongside midfield duo Browne and Samir Carruthers, Oxford will be a force to be reckoned with next season.
