Peterborough United are reportedly interested in signing West Ham United midfielder Conor Coventry, according to Football Insider.

Coventry has been with the Hammers since 2010, and has gone on to make three appearances in total for their first-team over the years.

But he found regular minutes hard to come by with David Moyes' side in the 2020/21 season, and was sent out on loan to League One side Lincoln City last term, where he made seven appearances for the Imps.

Coventry has caught the eye with some strong performances for West Ham during pre-season though it seems, with Peterborough United preparing a bid for his services this summer.

The 21-year-old was on target against Championship side Reading, in a comfortable 3-0 win for the Hammers last week, in a pre-season clash at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Peterborough United will be looking to make a positive start to the 2021/22 campaign, after winning promotion into the second-tier last term, after winning promotion from League One under the management of Darren Ferguson.

Posh are set to take on Luton Town in their opening match of the new season, in what is likely to be a tricky test for them at Kenilworth Road.

The Verdict:

This would be an excellent bit of business by Peterborough United.

Coventry has looked a real talent during pre-season with West Ham United, but it remains to be seen as to whether he'll actually feature for them in competitive matches in the Premier League this term.

If minutes are to prove hard to come by once again, then the midfielder might feel as though a move to London Road with Peterborough United might be the ideal opportunity for him to further his development in senior football.

It's interesting to hear that Peterborough are eyeing a permanent move for Coventry, as this could prove to be a shrewd investment in the long-term for Darren Ferguson's side.
