West Ham United have made enquiries about Sheffield Wednesday 16-year-old Bailey Cadamateri with the Hammers extremely keen to sign him, according to a report from the Sheffield Star.

The young forward has been impressing for the Owls U18s this term but the Yorkshire club are not able to offer him a professional contract until he turns 17 in May.

Both Brentford and West Ham have been linked with Cadamateri this month but it seems the latter have now stepped up their pursuit.

The Sheffield Star has reported that the Hammers are extremely keen to sign the teenager and have already made enquiries about him as they look to bring him to the nation's capital.

The report claims, however, that early signs are that the striker is happy at Hillsborough and is keen to continue his development at his boyhood club, having joined at the age of nine.

The Verdict

It seems West Ham have taken action in their pursuit of Cadamateri, who it appears they are a big fan of.

The good news for Wednesday is that the 16-year-old appears to be settled where he is and it seems wants to progress with the Owls.

He certainly looks to be a bright talent for the future and you feel the Yorkshire club will get a professional contract in front of him as soon as he turns 17 in May.

You never know what can happen and the pull of a top flight club is hard to resist but as things stand, it seems that Wednesday are likely to hold onto one of their really bright prospects.
