West Ham United want to have an offer accepted for in-demand Burnley attacker Maxwel Cornet in the coming days, according to ExWHUEmployee

A host of Premier League clubs have been linked with offering the 25-year-old a route back to the top flight following the Clarets' relegation to the Championship – including Everton, Leeds United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham.

Cornet remains a Burnley player for the time being but it seems the Hammers are hoping to change that very soon.

Club insider ExWHUEmployee has revealed via Patreon that the east London club want to have an offer accepted for the Ivory Coast international in the next few days.

It is understood they may look to pay for the deal in installments, add-ons, or as a loan.

Previous reports have suggested that the Clarets are not interested in a loan deal and that they'll demand a total fee of £25 million for any deal that is not paid entirely upfront.

Royal Antwerp winger Manuel Benson is expected to be announced as the 10th Turf Moor arrival of the summer today and will arrive as a potential replacement for Cornet and Dwight McNeil.

The Verdict

It seems West Ham are set to take significant action in order to win the race for Cornet.

The Burnley man has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs but reports suggest that the Turf Moor outfit are prepared to play hardball in negotiations.

They can take that stance because there are still four years on his contract with the Clarets and the club has already made some significant sales this summer.

That all means that for the Hammers to succeed in having an offer accepted over the next few days, they will have to make a bid worth around £25 million in total.
