Brentford look set to beat West Ham in the race to sign Rangers youngster Nathan Young-Coombes, according to Football Insider.

Young-Coombes joined Rangers from Chelsea in 2019, and has since made a number of appearances for the Glasgow side's reserves.

The 18-year-old has previously played up top, out wide and in midfield for Rangers, which shows how he versatile he can be going forward.

Brentford, according to recent reports from Football Insider, have reached an agreement to sign Young-Coombes in June for a fee of around £100,000 due to his contract expiring in the summer.

According to Football Insider, West Ham United made contact to sign the player in the previous transfer window, but their long-standing interest doesn't look set to culminate in a move.

Young-Coombes, though, is said to have his heart set on a move to Brentford, where he will presumably join up with their B-team at the club.

The Verdict

Young-Coombes is obviously a raw talent with big potential, and it seems like the sort of signing Brentford tend to make.

They have a number of impressive youngsters at the club, and Young-Coombes would be another exciting talent added to the books.

Thomas Frank is a coach who knows what it takes to get the best out of young players, and in time, Young-Coombes could be an important player for the Bees.

It's a blow for West Ham, and they will be hoping that it isn't a case of what might have been if he turns into a star.
