West Ham set to launch £12m bid to secure deal for prolific Championship star

Premier League side West Ham United are set to bid £12 million for QPR striker Charlie Austin, according to West London Sport.

The 26-year-old joined QPR from Burnley back in 2013, beating a number of sides to his signature and poaching him for a fee of around £5 million, after scoring 28 goals for the Clarets the year before.

Austin enjoyed a turbulent season in the Championship this year, his goals presumed to be an enormous asset for the R’s following their relegation, but he’s been battered by a number of injuries, only making one appearance since November.

His team have suffered as a consequence , and it looks like they could be without him at the end of the month, as West Ham prepare a move for the prolific striker.

Austin’s contract expires in the summer, so the hierarchy may see it fit to sell him while they can get a fee for their star man.

The R’s have endured a poor 2015/16 Sky Bet Championship campaign, with the club currently sitting in 17th place in the division.
