West Ham will complete the signing of Fulham's Ryan Fredericks on a free transfer in the coming days.

The right-back, who played a huge part in helping the Cottagers win promotion to the Premier League, is out of contract in the coming weeks and has been interesting several teams.

However, West Ham appear to have won the race to sign the 25-year old, with Sky Sports reporting that they saw off interest from Crystal Palace and Southampton to agree a deal with the defender.

The report also adds that Fredericks snubbed attempts from Bournemouth, Swansea and Wolves in January as he waited until the end of the season to discuss his future.

The former Bristol City man was the standout right-back in the Championship during the Cottagers' promotion-winning campaign, and was named in the team of the year. He particularly impresses with his explosive pace and ability to get forward.

Yet, despite playing a significant role in helping Slavisa Jokanovic's men return to the top-flight, Fredericks appears set to move to their London rivals.

The Verdict

Should this get finalised in the coming days, as the report states, West Ham will have pulled off a real coup.

Even though fans may not have seen much of him as a Championship player, there's little doubt that Fredericks can handle the step up.

He is a fine modern day full-back and will be sorely missed by Fulham on their return to the top.
