West Ham will reportedly make an increased bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon as they look for a potential Marco Arnautovic replacement.

Sky Sports have reported that a deal has been agreed between the Hammers and Chinese club Shanghai SIPG for Arnautovic, leaving the East London club short of forwards.

According to the Mirror, having missed out on Maxi Gomez, Manuel Pellegrini is now targeting Rondon as the solution and has raised his offer to £12 million plus bonuses for the 29-year-old.

Pellegrini is understood to have previously offered £10 million including two players, believed to be Sam Byram and Jordan Hugill.

That deal was rejected by the Baggies but they are thought to be open to offers for the Venezuelan forward.

Rondon impressed at St James' Park during his loan spell last season, scoring 12 goals and winning the club's player of the year award.

The striker appears unwilling to play in the Championship and with the Baggies having missed out on promotion last season it seems likely he will leave the club this summer.

The Verdict

Rondon looks set to leave the Hawthorns in this transfer window, at this point it just seems a case of to who, for how much, and when.

Newcastle and Wolverhampton Wanderers were also linked earlier in the summer but the interest of both those clubs seems to have fallen away, reducing West Brom's leverage slightly.

With just 29 days until the Baggies season opener, the club need to provide new manager Slaven Bilic with some reinforcements to their squad if they are to mount a successful promotion challenge this season.

Holding out for the right price is understandable but the club will need to shift the striker soon if they are to reinvest the money.
