West Ham United have reportedly registered their interest in signing West Brom midfielder Matheus Pereira, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.

Pereira caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for the Baggies last term, although his efforts weren't quite enough to see them survive in the Premier League, as they were relegated back into the second tier of English football.

The 25-year-old chipped in with 12 goals and six assists in all competitions for West Brom last term, and was one of the few players to come away with credit to their name from a disappointing campaign on the whole.

In the season prior to that campaign, Pereira scored eight goals and was on hand to provide 20 assists for the Baggies, as they won promotion into the Premier League, so he's certainly adjusted well to his surroundings at The Hawthorns, having signed for the club back in 2020.

But he could be on the move this summer, with the midfielder not being short of offers heading towards the new 2021/22 league campaign.

It is claimed by Ekrem Konur that West Ham are lining up a move for Pereira, as they look to find a replacement for Andriy Yarmolenko this summer. Al Hilal are also believed to be keen on reaching an agreement to land the midfielder's signature before the transfer window slams shut later this year.

TEAMtalk previously revealed that the likes of Norwich City, Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion were also reportedly keen on signing Pereira.

West Brom are set to take on AFC Bournemouth in their first match of the new season, in what is likely to be a tough test up against Scott Parker's side at the Vitality Stadium.

The Verdict:

This would be a move that surely works for both Pereira and West Ham this summer.

West Ham need additional strength in depth, and Pereira has shown that he can perform to a more than good enough standard in the top-flight.

West Brom won't be looking to move him on cheaply though, and they'll be sticking to their valuation of the midfielder, who has really impressed me in recent seasons.

He could be the ideal player to fill the void left by Jesse Lingard for West Ham heading into the new Premier League campaign, which gets underway in under a month's time.
