Queens Park Rangers are in advanced talks to sign West Ham United striker Jordan Hugill on a season-long loan, according to Football Insider.

The 27-year-old joined West Ham from Preston North End for a reported fee of £10million in January 2018, but has struggled to make an impact for the Hammers and has been linked with a number of clubs this summer.

The striker reportedly came close to joining Wigan Athletic earlier in the transfer window and has also held talks with his former club Preston over a potential return to Deepdale.

However, this latest report states that QPR are now close to signing him, with Rs boss Mark Warburton looking to boost his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Hugil scored ten goals for Preston during the first half of the 2017/18 season, but struggled to make an impact after his move to West Ham.

The attacker made just three substitute appearances for the Hammers in the Premier League and was sent out on loan to Middlesbrough at the beginning of last season.

The striker scored seven goals in 41 appearances for Middlesbrough in all competitions last season, as Boro just missed on the play-offs in the Championship.

The Verdict

I think Hugill could be a good signing for QPR.

Even though the striker failed to live up to expectations in the Premier League with West Ham, he's still a good player and has got plenty of experience in the Championship.

A move to Loftus Road would also makes sense for Hugill too, as it would allow him to stay in London and give him a chance to get his career back on track.

He probably didn't score as many goals as he would of hoped for Middlesbrough last season, but I think he's more than capable of making an impact for QPR.
