Crystal Palace are locked in a transfer tussle with West Ham United over a potential deal for Reading full-back Omar Richards according to the Reading Chronicle.
Richards has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for the Royals in recent years, and it appears as though these strong showings haven’t gone unnoticed.
The left-back has made seven appearances in all competitions so far this season for Veljko Paunovic’s side, who have certainly hit the ground running.
Reading are currently sat top of the Championship table, after five wins from their opening six matches of this year’s campaign.
Richards has certainly played his part in their strong start as well, and will be keen to continue to impress as the 2020/21 season progresses.
The Reading Chronicle have also claimed that Reading are in the ‘early stages’ of contract talks with Richards, and the Royals are not willing to discuss his future at this moment in time.
Reading take on Rotherham United on Saturday afternoon, as they look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season under Paunovic’s management, with Richards being named in the starting XI for the clash against the Millers.

Reading will be doing all they can to keep him at the club.
Richards has really impressed me since coming into the first-team, and his recent performances will surely mean that he’s likely to be one of the first names on the team-sheet.
I’m not surprised to hear that he’s attracting interest from elsewhere though, and Reading will need to tie him down to a new deal at the earliest of opportunities.
I think his development is best-served with Reading at the moment, as I don’t think he’d be guaranteed regular game time with either West Ham or Crystal Palace.
