Coventry City and Charlton are likely to be rivals for a playoff place this season, neither side is looking capable of a title assault but similarly, neither side likely to fall into any danger of mid-table obscurity.

Both have started well against the odds, Charlton with their off-field problems and Coventry having lost their leading scorer in the summer and then suffered a serious injury blow to their second choice.

Between them they've managed to assemble decent sides, both peppered with high-quality loan players but also comprised of good, honest professionals who have served both well.

There's a mix of youth and experience in both squad and combined, we think there's a team that could challenge for the top two.

FLW brings you the best-combined XI from Charlton and Coventry. There's bound to be disagreement, what do you think of our picks?

Burge has been established as the Coventry keeper for some time now and has shown himself to be an accomplished shot-stopper, as well of being in command of his area.

He's one that would definitely get the nod in our combined XI.

It would be hard to leave out Chelsa loanee Dujon Sterling, such is his impact at the Ricoh Arena.

It took him some time to settle into the rhythm of the division, but now he has he's equally as dangerous in the attacking third as in his defensive area.

We promise it is a combined XI! The third player on the side is another Sky Blue, Junior Brown.

He's a new face at Coventry after his summer move, but he's showing why they chose to recruit him.

Like Sterling, he's good going forward as well as covering at the back and he'll be a key player for Mark Robins.

Bauer might not be fit right now, but he's a top-notch centre-back and would walk into a joint team.

He's strong and quick and his absence is a huge blow to Lee Bowyer who could do with his presence in the middle of defence.

Bielik is versatile and has been deployed in midfield, but we're putting the Arsenal loan player at the back with Bauer.

The club mates would form an understanding and Bielik has a certain pedigree behind him which is hard to ignore.

It's another loan player, this time Luke Thomas of Derby, who gets the nod.

He'd go on the right side of the midfield, looking to allow Sterling to overlap and of course, get forward himself.

On the left side of midfield is Jordi Hiwula, another Sky Blue and a player who wasn't in Mark Robins's plans at the beginning of the season.

He's been excellent in recent weeks and could provide width, as well as that understanding with Junior Brown.

The only area where we haven't gone for a partnership is the centre of midfield. The first call is Michael Doyle, the veteran Coventry midfielder currently rolling back the years.

He would bring experience and would be great foil for the exciting Charlton youngster we've picked next.

Josh Cullen should perhaps be playing higher, but West Ham loaned him to Charlton and they're all the better for it.

He'll be learning plenty from Lee Bowyer, but can you imagine if he had someone like Doyle to learn from as the action unfolded?

We think they'd make a great pairing.

Up front we've gone firstly with Karlan Grant.

He dropped the 'Ahearne' in the summer and has simply shot to prominence after spending some of last season in League Two with Crawley.

He's got a bit of everything, he's quick and agile but also acutely aware of his partner's movements. They feed off each other and for such a young player to show that understanding bodes well for the future.

Having picked Grant as one striker, it had to be Lyle Taylor partnering him. Like eggs and bacon, stamps and letters, they go together perfectly.

Taylor is quick, dropping off the last shoulder but able to run the channels as well as find width. He's thriving at the Valley and his partnership with Grant is bringing goals galore.
