West Ham United will watch midfielder George Saville, of their bitter rivals Millwall, in tonight's clash with promotion-chasing Derby County with the view to a £2m Deadline Day deal, according to West Ham World.

Saville has four international caps for Northern Ireland and has impressed Hammers boss David Moyes in recent weeks and tonight's scouting mission will be the final one before launching a late bid to bring the player across the rivalry's divide, if he is satisfied with what he sees.

Moyes has had his eye on many central midfielders in the January window, including Stoke City's Joe Allen, Newcastle United's Jonjo Shelvey, Fulham captain and talisman Tom Cairney and Everton's Morgan Schneiderlin but now looks set to turn his attention to a cut-price deal for Saville.

The Verdict

Saville's transfer would be a controversial one between two rivals but he is a quality player and looks much better value than some of the Premier League options he has examined so far this window.

Millwall would understandably be very keen to keep him but if the Premier League come calling, they may be powerless to stop him going.
