West Ham and West Brom are plotting a January move for Bournemouth defender Steve Cook, according to Football Insider.

Cook has started all of the Cherries eight Championship matches following their relegation from the Premier League last season, but has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Vitality Stadium and doesn't appear to be signing a new deal.

Bournemouth have made an excellent start to the season and have remained unbeaten (W4 D4), which is enough to see them sit second in the standings after Wednesday's narrow victory over Bristol City.

The 29-year-old played 90 minutes last night and has made more than 300 Cherries appearances since joining from Brighton more than nine years ago - proving a vital part of the side the promotion winning sides from both League One and then the Championship in 2014-15.

Can you name where each of these 14 ex-Bournemouth players are playing now?

The Verdict

This would be a major blow if Bournemouth were to lose Cook, whose been a mainstay in their starting XI for the best part of a decade.

But with Cook showing no signs of extending his contract, cashing in on the defender during the January window to avoid the risk of losing him on a free next summer would seem the best case scenario for Jason Tindall.

The loan signing of Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham on Deadline Day should leave the Cherries with plenty of defensive cover if Cook does end up leaving, though.
