Brentford winger Jota is the subject of a two-way Premier League transfer tussle.

According to a report by The Mirror, Newcastle United and West Ham United will battle it out to sign Jota from Brentford.

The Spaniard was on loan at Eibar for the first half of last season but returned to impress for the Bees in the second half of the season.

The left-footed winger weighed in with twelve goals in the second half of the season for Brentford, helping them to a mid-table Championship finish.

Forming an attacking trio of Jota, Sergi Canos and Lasse Vibe, Brentford were a potent threat going forward.

Brentford triggered a one year extension of his contract to prevent him from leaving the club on a free transfer this summer.

However, Jota still could depart with Premier League interest in his services.

West Ham United could swoop for the 26-year-old, especially if Sofiane Feghouli and Robert Snodgrass both leave.

That would leave the Hammers with Manuel Lanzini, Andre Ayew, Marko Arnautovic and Michail Antonio as their only senior attacking midfield options - although young duo Sead Haksabanovic and Nathan Holland will be knocking on the door.

Newcastle United could also pounce as they look to bolster their options out wide.

The Verdict

Brentford will be desperate to keep Jota as his attacking influence is central to their plans.

Alongside Sergi Canos and Lasse Vibe, you can expect Brentford to score plenty of goals if the trio remain at the club.

If the 26-year-old keeps up his good performances, it will only be a matter of time before he gets a Premier League move.
