West Bromwich Albion are set to complete the signing of Kyle Bartley within the next 24 hours, with the centre-back edging closer to a £4m switch to the Hawthorns.

Darren Moore’s side are set to beat a number of their Championship rivals, including Leeds United, to Bartley’s signature, with the 27-year-old’s arrival set to be confirmed within the next 24 hours.

According to the Express and Star, the Baggies are on the verge of completing their second signing of the summer, with Bartley’s arrival looking a formality at this stage.

The 27-year-old centre-back will arrive in a £4m deal, ending his association with Swansea City.

Last season for the Swans, Bartley managed just 12 appearances, with the Welsh outfit suffering relegation from the top-flight alongside West Brom.

His most previous spell in the Championship came with Leeds, who had been in the race to re-sign the centre-back earlier in the summer.

During the 2016/17 campaign under Garry Monk, Bartley excelled at Elland Road, becoming a popular figure amongst Leeds’ supporters.

The defender made 50 appearances, scoring six goals and helping Leeds to seventh in the table, with Monk’s side finishing agonisingly short of a place in the play-offs.

The Verdict

This is an excellent signing for West Brom.

Bartley has plenty of quality and in the Championship, he’s a really good addition.

If the 27-year-old can replicate the form he showed at Leeds, West Brom will feel that £4m is a bargain.

Moore will be delighted with this particular piece of business.
